I don't think people realize how hard it can be before they decide to go there, and once you're there, sometimes you're stuck - not everyone can afford to stay home (or at least, not and live the way they'd like to) and not everyone has the temperament for it anyway.<br />It's so hard when families are so spread out - moms don't have extended family to lean on. And people don't have families around them to see firsthand what they might be getting into when they have kids! Extended family can be hard to get along with, but the nuclear family puts very heavy burdens on moms and dads - care of kids, care of elders... One of the moms I know from school is a Boston native - her sister can pick up her daughter from school some days, they both take care of their elderly dad... <br />So maybe it isn't supposed to be this hard. But it might take a little more creative thinking to find yourself a place you're comfortable with. And if her baby is 4 months old, it does get a little easier once you get more sleep...Audreynoreply@blogger.com
